India’s government has launched the SHE Marts Mission, aiming to empower rural women through entrepreneurship. Under this scheme, eligible women can set up retail outlets, receiving training and financial support.
The mission’s objective is to create employment opportunities and promote economic growth in rural areas, where women often face significant challenges.
Eligibility and Application Process
Women between 18 and 50 years of age, belonging to Below Poverty Line (BPL) families, can apply for the scheme. They must hold a 10th standard certificate and have a valid Aadhaar card.
Applicants can submit their applications through the official government website or at designated Common Service Centers (CSCs).
Key Benefits and Future Plans
Selected women will receive training in retail management, financial literacy, and marketing. They will also be provided with a working capital of up to ₹50,000 and a rent-free shop space.
The government plans to establish 10,000 SHE Marts across rural India, creating employment opportunities for thousands of women. This initiative is expected to contribute significantly to the country’s economic growth and social development.
