A 35-year-old man from Odisha met a tragic end after his wife, in a fit of rage, struck him on the head with a mobile phone. The incident occurred in a small village in the state’s Kendrapara district on Tuesday evening.
According to the police, the couple had been arguing over a trivial matter when the wife, identified as 32-year-old Priyanka, lost her temper and hit her husband with the phone. The victim, Rajkishore, suffered severe head injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead.
What Led to the Fight?
Investigations have revealed that the couple had been experiencing marital problems for some time. Rajkishore, a daily wage labourer, had been under immense stress due to financial issues, which had put a strain on their relationship. Priyanka, who worked as a homemaker, had been trying to manage the household expenses on her own.
On the day of the incident, the couple got into a heated argument over a minor issue, which escalated into a full-blown fight. Priyanka, in the heat of the moment, grabbed the mobile phone and struck Rajkishore on the head. The police have confirmed that the incident was a result of domestic violence.
Police Investigation Underway
The police have registered a case under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and are investigating the matter. The police have also recorded the statements of the couple’s relatives and neighbours, who witnessed the incident.
Priyanka has been arrested and is currently in judicial custody. The police have seized the mobile phone used in the incident and are examining it for any evidence. The investigation is ongoing, and the police are expected to file a chargesheet soon.
