Retired Teachers Hired on Contract in Chanda ZP Schools

Are retired teachers eligible for government jobs?

A big yes, at least in Chanda ZP schools! In a unique move, the district administration has hired 147 retired teachers on contract basis to improve the quality of education.

The decision comes as a welcome relief for the retired teachers who were struggling to make ends meet post-retirement. The government has also taken cognizance of the shortage of teachers in several schools in the district.

The contract appointees will be engaged for five months under the Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) scheme. They will be paid a monthly honorarium of Rs 25,000.

How Will This Impact Education?

With this move, the district administration aims to improve the academic performance of students in the district. The retired teachers will provide additional support to students and help in bridging the learning gap.

The district administration has also planned to engage the services of experts and other professionals to improve the infrastructure of schools in the district.

The success of this initiative will pave the way for similar models to be replicated in other districts.
