Special Trains Announced for Tamil New Year

As the Tamil New Year approaches, many of us are busy making travel plans to visit our loved ones. For those heading to the southern districts, here’s some good news: special trains have been announced between Egmore and Nellai, as well as Chennai and Thoothukudi.

The South Western Railway has announced a special train service, which will operate on April 14th and 15th. The train will depart from Egmore at 8:30 AM and arrive at Nellai at 4:00 PM. Return journeys will begin at 8:30 AM on April 15th from Nellai and arrive at Egmore at 4:00 PM.

Thoothukudi Special Trains

The same special train service will also operate between Chennai and Thoothukudi. The train will depart from Chennai at 5:30 AM and arrive at Thoothukudi at 2:00 PM. Return journeys will begin at 5:30 AM on April 15th from Thoothukudi and arrive at Chennai at 2:00 PM.

This is a welcome move by the railway authorities, especially for those who want to spend the Tamil New Year with their family and friends. ‘These special trains will help reduce the pressure on regular trains during the Tamil New Year period,’ said a railway official.

Dr. N. Senthil Kumar, a transportation expert, believes that this move will also help boost tourism in the southern districts. ‘The Tamil New Year is a significant event for the region, and this special train service will encourage more people to visit these areas,’ he said.
