India, who were looking to make a comeback in the series, had a disappointing start with the bat. The team’s top order failed to impress, with the opening pair of Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma losing their wickets early in the innings.
The Indian middle order, led by skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, tried to revive the innings but was unable to mount a significant challenge against the South African bowling attack.
The South African team, on the other hand, had a solid performance with the bat, posting a total of 144 runs in 19.4 overs. The hosts’ top order played a crucial role in setting up the innings, with the opening pair of Laura Wolvaardt and Lizelle Lee putting on a 43-run partnership.
South Africa’s middle order then took over, with the team’s skipper Suné Luus and Chloe Tryon adding 41 runs for the 4th wicket. Tryon’s 26-ball 31 was instrumental in South Africa’s success, helping the team post a competitive total.
