We’re talking over 35 major roads facing restrictions, so if you’ve got plans that involve zipping around the capital, you might want to rethink them or brace yourself for some loooong commutes.
What’s the Big Deal?
So, why all the fuss? Well, India is hosting the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) Summit, and obviously, with world leaders descending on Delhi, security and smooth VVIP movement are top priorities. To ensure this, the Delhi Traffic Police have rolled out a comprehensive advisory, essentially creating a no-go zone for regular traffic on many key arteries and surrounding areas. Think of it as a VIP-only express lane, and everyone else has to find a detour!
Roads to Avoid (Like the Plague!)
The list of affected roads is extensive and covers pretty much all the important routes. Areas around Pragati Maidan, India Gate, Connaught Place, and even parts of South and Central Delhi are going to be heavily impacted. Public transport like the Delhi Metro is expected to remain operational, which is good news, but getting to the metro stations might be the real challenge. So, ditch the car, grab your metro card, and give yourself an extra hour, or two, for travel. Seriously, don’t say we didn’t warn you!
