Kohli’s Future Secured: RCB CEO on Star Captain’s Extended Stay

Is Virat Kohli set to hang up his India jersey soon? The question has been doing the rounds in cricket circles for months now, but it seems the answer is a resounding no. At least, not for the next four years.

In an exclusive interview, RCB CEO, Siddharth Monga, spoke to IndiaFlash about the future of their star captain and the team’s strategy going forward.

When asked about Kohli’s future with the team, Monga was categorical in his response. ‘He is fit, the hunger never dies,’ he said, echoing the sentiments of fans and experts alike. ‘You saw him this IPL season bring on the energy, runs, attitude….everything was there.’

RCB’s Plan for Success

RCB has been one of the most consistent teams in the IPL, but they’ve yet to lift the coveted trophy. This season was no different, and the team’s early exit was met with disappointment. However, Monga sees the positives in their performance and is confident that they can turn things around next season.

‘We’ve been working on our strategy, and we’re not just focusing on individual performances but also on building a solid team unit,’ Monga explained. ‘We’ve identified areas where we need to improve, and we’re working on those.

‘Our goal is to win the championship, and we’re willing to do whatever it takes to achieve that. We’ve got a great squad, and we’re confident that we can make it happen,’ he added.

Kohli’s Role Goes Beyond Captaincy

While Kohli’s on-field presence is undoubtedly crucial to RCB’s success, Monga believes that his influence extends far beyond the captain’s role.

‘Virat is not just a captain; he’s a leader, a mentor, and a role model. He sets the tone for the team, and his energy is infectious,’ Monga said. ‘He’s always pushing us to be better, to strive for excellence, and that’s something that we appreciate and value greatly.’

When asked about Kohli’s fitness and his ability to maintain the high level of intensity required of a top-level cricketer, Monga was reassuring. ‘He’s fit, and he’s hungry for more. He’s been working tirelessly to improve his game, and we’re seeing the results on the field.’

The Road Ahead

So, what’s next for RCB? Monga is clear about their goals and the steps they’re taking to achieve them. ‘We’re not just looking at the next season; we’re planning for the next four years,’ he said. ‘We want to build a sustainable team that can compete at the highest level, and we’re willing to invest in the right players and the right strategy to make that happen.’

As India prepares for the upcoming World Cup, the question on everyone’s mind is: will Kohli be there to lead the team? While that’s still a topic of speculation, one thing is certain – he’ll be playing for RCB for at least the next four years.
