Silver drops 1% on profit-taking; gold gains amid easing tensions

Silver prices in India declined nearly 1% to ₹2,38,601 per kilogram on Tuesday as traders engaged in profit-booking following earlier gains. The white metal’s pullback comes despite broader strength in precious metals markets.

In contrast, gold extended its winning streak, appreciating 0.5% to ₹1,51,553 per 10 grams. The yellow metal’s upward momentum reflects improving investor sentiment, largely driven by easing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East region.

The divergent price movements highlight distinct investor behavior across precious metals. While gold benefited from risk-off sentiment softening, silver faced selling pressure as traders locked in profits after recent rallies.

Geopolitical developments remain a key driver for precious metals, with investors rotating towards safe-haven assets when tensions rise. The recent de-escalation in Middle East conflicts has reduced immediate demand for defensive positioning, allowing some profit-taking in silver while gold maintains its appeal as a longer-term store of value.

Analysts suggest investors monitor global tensions and macroeconomic data for directional cues. Both metals continue to be influenced by US dollar movements, inflation expectations, and central bank policies, which remain key factors for Indian market participants tracking commodity prices.
