India Unveils Ambitious Renewable Energy Plan

The government has announced a massive renewable energy plan to achieve 50% of the country’s power generation from non-fossil fuels by 2030.

With an aim to reduce the country’s reliance on coal, the plan focuses on increasing the share of solar, wind, and hydroelectric power.

The plan also proposes to set up 100 GW of solar power capacity and 60 GW of wind power capacity by 2027.

Key Components of the Plan

The plan includes several key components, such as a target to increase the share of non-fossil fuels to 50% by 2030, a plan to set up 100 GW of solar power capacity and 60 GW of wind power capacity by 2027, and a proposal to electrify all villages by 2025.

The government has also announced a slew of measures to support the renewable energy sector, including tax incentives and subsidies for manufacturers of solar and wind power equipment.

The plan is expected to create millions of jobs in the renewable energy sector and help India meet its climate change commitments.

While the plan is ambitious, experts say that it will require significant investment and coordination among various stakeholders to achieve the targets.
