The government has announced plans to provide 1.5 crore new homes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) in 2026, aiming to benefit over 8 crore Indians.
This move is expected to boost the country’s housing market and provide affordable housing to low-income households.
Eligible beneficiaries can apply online through the PMAY website or offline through common service centers.
Key Features of PMAY 2026
The scheme will offer subsidies ranging from Rs. 2.5 lakh to Rs. 5 lakh for EWS and LIG households, and Rs. 1 lakh to Rs. 2.5 lakh for MIG households.
The government will also provide interest subsidy on home loans up to Rs. 2.5 lakh for MIG households.
The scheme will be implemented in partnership with state governments, local bodies, and financial institutions.
Experts believe that this move will not only provide housing to the needy but also boost economic growth by creating jobs and stimulating demand for construction materials.
As the government gears up to launch the scheme, Indians are eagerly waiting to see the impact it will have on their lives and the country’s housing market.
